We are very pleased by this chance
To support the Embassy of France
In Nature’s cause, so dear to our heart,
In which we’ve always played a part.
My forefathers saw very far,
And before it was named CSR,
Worked in the service of the Nation,
Provided workers education,
Worked constantly to improve their plight
And housed them well, in a sylvan site.
To the call of Nature we’ve not been deaf
We’ve worked well with WWF,
Housed in the Pirojsha Godrej Centre,
With Sohrab as President and mentor.
And Bombay’s only Mangroves stand,
Preserved, pristinely, on our land.
I think it makes perfect sense
That a CII Centre of Excellence
Was built in Sohrab’s memory.
And in this Centre one can see
Technologies for efficiency
In energy and water use
As well as many tips and cues
On using energy that’s clean
And designing buildings that are green.
And what we preach we also heed.
The Centre‘s rated Platinum LEED.
While Uncle Sohrab laid the seed
Now cousin Jamshyd took the lead
With CII‘s sustainable pledge,
Which puts us on the cutting edge.
Specific energy must be reduced.
Less GHGs must be produced.
Both, two percent, year after year.
But the Centre’s there to help and cheer.
And we’ve supported “Friends of the Trees”
Providing saplings, and if you please,
Take some away. Please plant them well.
And do not ever try to fell
Any tree, but if you do,
For each one felled, plant twenty-two.
Climate change can cause despair
And so I have a thought to share.
Conservation should lead the way.
Alternative energy, in time, will pay.
Solar Thermal’s in the lead.
Wind, perhaps, might well succeed.
Transportation’s tough to call
For batteries, I think, could stall.
Both cellulosic ethanol
And solar powered methanol,
In due course, will play a role.
But who knows when we’ll have clean coal?
But I am sure that if we plan it
Together we can save the Planet!
